Frequently Asked Questions

Listed below are responses to questions we frequently are asked by New Licensees:

Why is training so important when I just finished so many classes at real estate school?

Chances are there are many aspects of selling real estate that were not covered thoroughly in real estate school.   The instructors are given limited time to teach  you things that it has taken them years to learn, therefore, there's no way they can pass it all on to you in a few weeks.  Additionally, there are some policies and procedures that a brokerage should teach you, specific to the office, that you will need to implement to be compliant with state, national, and office rules and laws.

Why do you only hire 5-10 new licensees per year?

We have found much success in limiting the number of new licensees that we hire and train in a given year.

Because of this method, we are able to better train and more closely monitor and mentor the new licensees as is evident by our 80%+ success ratio of new licensees.

Can I have my own desk in the office?

Yes!   All new licensees have their own individual desk in a shared, 300 sq. ft., "new agent office."

Is RE/MAX more expensive than other real estate companies?

There are many different pay plan options at RE/MAX Masters, and you may choose the one that best suits your family's budget.   The truth is, it is the best value available for a full-time real estate professional.

Can I work with a mentor?

Yes, you'll have access to our top-producing mentor once a week in a roundtable discussion with your fellow new licensees.   Additionally, he is available by phone and by appointment.   He is also a Certified Covenant Coach and works with other agents of all experience levels from across the country.  There is no charge for this service.   To learn more about Andrew, visit the "Training" area of our web site.

How long do you think it’ll take until my first closing?

Usually it takes about 2-3 months if you're implementing all of the systems and activities that are recommended.   However, there are always exceptions.   Our rookie of the year in 2006 had her first closing in 6 weeks!   It's best to budget for 4-6 months worth of expenses because not only do you have a regular paycheck coming in, but you have new expenses as a result of getting into real estate.

Can I work here part-time while I work full-time at my other job?

Our experience has shown that this is the least effective and efficient way to become successful in real estate.  We prefer not to hire agents who are not focused on learning everything they need to know to take care of our clients and represent our company well in the industry.  Because there is so much to learn as a new licensee, much training is required in the beginning and we've found that it's very difficult for full-time employees of other companies to attend our training classes.

How many leads will I get?

We have a philosophy of "teaching you how to fish, rather than giving you a fish" at RE/MAX Masters.   In other words, we are very successful at teaching our agents how to generate their own leads.    However, we've found that our new agents are never at a loss for resources on new leads.   With the addition of "LeadStreet" to RE/MAX in early 2006, most of our agents receive multiple leads every month from the web site, in addition to our other sources.

Do you have phone time?

Yes, on a volunteer basis.   Typically, you can take as much as you desire because most of our agents are too busy taking their own property calls to schedule time for the office's generated leads.  In the past, we've generated many property calls and walk-ins simply from our presence in the community alone but our internet presence as well as multiple sources of advertising creates quality walk-ins and phone calls as well.
