First Steps for New Licensees

As a new licensee, learning where to start can be overwhelming.   Listed below are a some first steps that you may find helpful to get started.

You can find out most information about getting licensed to sell real estate in the state of Texas by going to www.trec.state.tx.us   Click on the tab at the top called "Licenses:  Apply/Renew"  and it will take you to the steps on education requirements filing an application with TREC (The Texas Real Estate Commission), fees, the state exam, and getting a sponsoring broker.  There is also a link on this page to local real estate schools, and the core class requirements are listed under Step 1.  After you take your courses, you'll submit an "Evaluation of Education Documents", the link to which is located in Step 2 of this same page.   After you submit this document and your certificates, TREC will send you a letter either requiring more classes, or instructing you to complete the "Application for Inactive Salesperson License."   After your application is approved, you'll receive a testing number from PSI, the independent company that facilitates the licensing exams locally, and you will schedule a time to take your exam.

I would recommend talking to our company and possibly a few others during the time when you're taking your classes.  You need to get an idea of the variety of options that are available to you.   There are many different formats and cultures in real estate companies, even in our small market area.
